Winfield and Schempf take UCI MAC finals in Virginia

Dee Dee Winfield (Velo Bella / Kona) and Weston Schempf (C3-Sollay.com) rode to commanding solo wins in MAC Powered by SRAM’s season-ending Capital Cross Classic on Sunday.

Winfield’s victory comes in the middle of a tough three-week stretch of travel that saw her working her way through the field to finish 21st in last week’s World Cup in Koksijde, Belgium, before traveling to Kansas City for next week’s U.S. National Cyclocross Championships.

Meanwhile, Schempf’s win capped a season that saw his C3-Sollay.com team win both the men’s and women’s elite series championships.

Not only did Schempf regain his MAC Powered by SRAM championship, but his teammate Laura Van Gilder (who raced and won Sunday in Rhode Island) won the women’s championship.

Just to put an exclamation point on the season. C3-Sollay.com’s “Bad Andy” Wulfkuhle finished in the runner-up spot Sunday for another black-and-blue sweep of the top podium positions.
