Tyler Farrar's father injured in car-bike collision
Cycling fans and friends of Garmin-Chipotle pro Tyler Farrar are sending best wishes to the Farrar family after his father, Dr. Ed Farrar, suffered a serious spinal injury from a bike-car collision in Wenatchee, Washington, on Wednesday.
Dr. Farrar, an orthopedic surgeon, was in "undetermined" condition at Central Washington Hospital Wednesday night, according to the Wenatchee World newspaper.
Dr. Farrar was cycling on Skyline Drive just after 7 a.m. when a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria crossed into an opposing lane and hit him head-on.
The newspaper, citing police reports, said the driver dropped a clipboard onto the floor of the car and took his eyes off the road to reach for it when he hit Farrar. Police said the driver is likely to be cited or face criminal charges.
