USGP adds junior cyclocross series
The US Gran Prix of Cyclocross is adding several features to encourage growth of the sport in the junior and U23 ranks.
The three-weekend USGP series will now include the CyclocrossWorld.com / USGP Junior Race Series.
Two events in the series — New Jersey's Mercer Cup presented by Knapp's Cyclery and The Portland (Oregon) Cup presented by Stanley have been named the official U23 and Junior Worlds qualifying races and are the only sanctioned UCI Junior races on the American cyclocross calendar.
"The history of the USGP has been all about the development of the sport of cyclocross in the US and about providing the best head-to-head competition for US athletes — especially for those who aspire to race successfully in Europe," said series event director, Joan Hanscom.
The 2008 USGP:
October 25th and 26th in Louisville, Kentucky.
November 15th and 16th in Mercer County, New Jersey.
December 6th and 7th in Portland, Oregon.
