Next time I toe the line at a hot mid-summer race, chances are the Highline Ultralight Jersey will be on my back. It’s exceptionally thin and snug — nearly skinsuit snug, in fact. Yet it’s not uncomfortable, and there is no noticeable pinching, which we usually find around the sleeve cuffs. This is an excellent racer’s jersey.
It comes with a high-end race price tag. For two bills, you get ultrasonic stretch seam construction (which I’m pretty sure just means the seams are low-profile and won’t rub you wrong), 6-millimeter seam tape, a DWR treatment, and UPF 50+ treatment. But mostly, you’ll notice the exceptional fit.
Keep in mind that there’s no forgiveness here. Zero. This jersey will show off everything, right down to your bib straps and ribs. If you’re shy about what’s beneath your jersey, forget about this one.
Here’s our one quibble: the zipper pulls are thin synthetic strings. I’m sure they’re lighter than metal or plastic zipper pulls, but as soon as those knots loosen, the strings will fall off and you’ll have to pinch the carrier to unzip. Our size medium test jersey weighs in at a feathery 111 grams; we would sacrifice a few more grams for some stout zipper pulls.
