Alison Powers (UnitedHealthcare) won the Tour Femenino de San Luis on Saturday in Argentina.
UnitedHealthcare also took two stage wins and the team classification in the five-stage race.
“The team defended the pink jersey really well today,” Powers said. “I was able to sit back and watch Alexis [Ryan], Sharon [Laws] and Mara [Abbott] do all of the work. And to top it off, Alexis finished third today!”
Powers took the leader’s jersey after soloing to victory in stage 3, taking a lead of more than three minutes.
On Saturday, UnitedHealthcare snuffed all attempts at escape, and in the final sprint Powers led out Ryan to a podium finish.
“The team rode a perfect race today and I could not be happier,” said team director Rachel Heal. “To start the year off with a victory like this is fantastic, especially with a new team.”
Brazilians Fernanda da Silva Souza and Clemilda Fernandes Silva finished second and third overall at 2:22 and 2:37, respectively.
