Jared Graves, Anne-Caroline Chausson lead enduro-series finale

Jared Graves (Yeti-Fox) and Anne-Caroline Chausson (Ibis) top the standings after day one of the final round of the Enduro World Series in Finale Ligure, Italy.

The weekend is also the final round of the Superenduro series, sponsored by SRAM.

Four stages were scheduled Saturday, but only three were actually run; a crash that delayed the first stage led organizers to cancel the fourth rather than risk having the final riders tackle it in the dark.

In men’s action, Martin Maes (GT Factory Racing) took stage one ahead of Fabien Barel (Canyon) and Nico Lau (Cube Action Team).

Lau bounced back to win stage two, holding off Jerome Clementz (Cannondale) and Maes. However, at the time check Lau missed his start time and picked up a one-minute penalty, ending his chances of a good result this weekend.

Finally, Graves won stage three, with Clementz second and Lau third. Graves now leads Clementz by one-tenth of a second with Barel third at 10.6 seconds.

In women’s racing, Chausson leads the day-one standings by 5.7 seconds over Tracy Moseley (Trek), with Cecile Ravanelle (GT-Skoda) third.

Racing continues Sunday with the two final stages.
