Thermal Castelli one-pieces for cyclocross racing and winter training
This year, Castelli has amped up the offerings for those willing to pedal in nasty conditions.
Castelli had the help of the Garmin-Sharp team to develop the thermal SanRemo and windproof Gabba lines, with the pros testing them on the road for about a year, according the the Custom Team Specialist, Alvin Nordell.
The cold-weather SanRemo line is based on the SanRemo SpeedSuit, an adaptation of a skinsuit that is hybrid of skinsuit and normal kit, and featuring pockets and making allowances for discreet natural breaks. Essentially, the SpeedSuit sews together a tight-fitting jersey to a bib short without the straps, with the front able to fully unzip and open in the front, and the back attached to the shorts. Castelli claims it offers the aerodynamics of a skinsuit with the convenience of a standard kit.
Windproof and nearly waterproof Gabba products employ breathable and stretchy NanoFlex fabric, based on Gore-Tex. The line includes a short-sleeve jersey, long-sleeve jersey, warmers, bibs and shoe covers. This year, Castelli added custom versions of the Gabba line.
