Following Great Britain’s gold medal-winning ride in the team sprint at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, one of their members, Jamie Staff, decided to seek out a new challenge for himself and coach the Americans in the very discipline he excelled at.

In Part 1 of this in-depth interview with VeloNews, Staff muses on missing the cut in the team sprint on Wednesday, which effectively ruled the United States out of the event in London, and focusing on the match sprint events over the next two days, where Team USA is virtually guaranteed a place at the 2012 Olympic Games.
