Steven Cozza continues with NetApp

American Steven Cozza will be back with NetApp for the German-registered squad’s second season for 2012 with eyes on improving on its debut year.

The Pro Continental team announced four additions for 2012 and confirmed Cozza and nine other riders who will remain on the squad from this year’s lineup. Cozza struggled with health issues throughout much of 2011, but the team is hoping he can step up next season as it moves forward with an ambitious agenda.

“2011 was a successful year. Although it was only our second season, we had a first-class racing calendar and presented ourselves in the best possible way at the races that had a field of top riders,” said team manager Ralph Denk in a team release. “We always lived up to our invitations to such races as Paris-Roubaix, the Tour of California or the Tour de Suisse by demonstrating an active and successful style of racing. Classification jerseys and spots on the podium, such as second place at the Österreich Rundfahrt (Tour of Austria) or third place at the Tour of Britain, demonstrate that we’re on the right path. Once again, and not least of all as a result of that, we were also able to move up considerably in the UCI rankings as compared to our first season.”

André Schulze, Reto Hollenstein, Grischa Janorschke and Blaz Jarc are the additions for 2012.

“We’ll sign two or three more riders over the coming days,” Denk said. “I’m optimistic that, along with the three spots yet to be filled, we will have assembled the strongest and most experienced squad in the team’s history thus far. So we’re confident going into next year as a Pro Continental team.”
