Ignatas Konovalovas, Marcel Wyss find rides after Cervélo TestTeam

Ignatas Konovalovas and Marcel Wyss are the latest riders from Cervélo TestTeam to secure contracts for next season in the wake of the team’s decision to close at the end of the 2010 season.

Konovalovas has penned a deal to join Movistar (Caisse d’Epargne) while Wyss will join Geox (Footon-Servetto) next year.

Konovalovas, 24, made a big splash last year when he won the final-day time trial at the Giro d’Italia. He made his Tour de France debut this season and many believe the big Lithuanian could develop into a three-week specialist.

Wyss, a spindly 24-year-old climber from Switzerland, rode well in his grand tour debut at the Giro d’Italia this year and returns to Geox, where he rode as a stagiaire in the 2008 season.

The pair is the latest of the Cervélo riders to secure contracts for next year. Others include Xavier Tondo (Movistar), Theo Bos (Rabobank) and Carlos Sastre (Geox) while Thor Hushovd leads seven riders to what will be called Garmin-Cervélo in 2011.

Joining Hushovd will be Heinrich Haussler, Roger Hammond, Brett Lancaster, Andreas Klier, Daniel Lloyd and Gabriel Rasch.

Iñigo Cuesta said he will not make a decision on whether or not he will ride one more season, but the 41-year-old could land at Geox if he decides to extend his career.

There’s no word yet where North American rides Ted King or Dominique Rollin will ride next season.
