The Spanish beach resort of Benidorm will play host to the start of the 2011 Vuelta a España.
Officials also said that the race would start with a time trial, but did not specify if it would be a team time trial or individual.
After starting in Sevilla this year and Holland in 2009, Vuelta officials said it chose Benidorm due to ample infrastructure of the city, which hosts up to 3 million tourists per year. The city hosted the world road race championships in 1992.
With the announcement Sunday, the starting cities of all three grand tours for next season are now revealed.
Next year’s Tour de France will start in Vendée, along France’s west coast. Instead of an individual time trial, the race will open with a full-distance road stage, including going over the Passage du Gois causeway before the stage starts.
