Cameron Meyer (Garmin-Transitions) roared to victory in the elite men’s Australian time trial championship on Wednesday.
Meyer was a runner-up last year, but held off a stiff challenge from veteran Luke Roberts (Milram) to claim his first elite TT crown.
Meyer, who turns 22 next week, poured it on the final 10km to sew up victory to stop the clock in 50 minutes, 52 seconds on the 38km Buninyong course in Ballarat.
Coming through second was John Anderson at 51:21 and Roberts settled into third with 51:25.
Travis Meyer, Cameron’s younger brother, rode well to take fifth at 52:27.
Garmin-Transitions is hopeful the Meyer brothers can pull off the double in the elite men’s road race on Sunday.
