U.S. Cup Unification Race on Tap

On Sept. 20 in Southern California, the U.S. Cup Unification race presented by Specialized is shaping up to be a showdown of the who’s who in mountain bike racing.

The unification race will pit top Kenda Cup East and Kenda Cup West series riders against one another for ultimate bragging rights with a U.S. Cup Unification Series title and jersey on the line to both Pro and Amateurs riders. The race is set for Bonelli Park in San Dimas, California.

The shootout is open to all riders, whether they competed in the series or not. However, only the top 15 riders in each class from either series standings will be awarded starting points to vie for the U.S. Cup Unification title and Champions jersey.

The U.S. Cup will also be awarding a One Day U.S. Cup Unification title for riders who may have not competed in either series or are outside the top 15 in series points. This winner-take-all scenario allows a rider to win a “U.S. Cup One Day Unification” award number plate, if he or she can walk in and beat the top riders from the Kenda Cup West and Kenda Cup East series.

In the men’s Pro field its Sho-Air/Specialized Sid Taberlay winning the west going up against East Coast rider Sam Koerber of the Gary Fisher 29’er Crew for the US Cup unification title.

In the women’s pro field its California transplant Krista Park of the Incycle Team winning the Kenda Cup West going up against East Coaster Jaime Dinkins of the Motor Mile Racing team.  There also some classic battles lined up for the amateur class’ that should make for some great racing.

Pre-register now for the Sept. 20 race at Bonelli Park.
